Buying at the Top and “Catching a Falling Knife”: My Failure Story
I really messed up! 😰
I used to be a full-fledged securities lady, albeit for a short time! 💰
What Happened? ⚡
While the Nikkei average kept climbing well past 70,000 yen, my own portfolio of “excellent high-dividend stocks” was in the red!
I was getting anxious and panicked. 😱
I felt like I had to jump in before I missed the boat. ⏳
I was influenced by a famous investor on YouTube who kept saying, “The Nikkei will easily break through 80,000 yen.” (I still believe that it will reach 80,000 yen someday!)
Just after the Nikkei average crossed 70,000 yen and started having repeated pullbacks, I bought the “Nikkei 225 Index” and a “Nikkei Semiconductor Fund.”
Today, I’m crying over my unrealized gains. (Crying) 😭
Regarding the Nikkei index, I ended up repeating “averaging down” (nanpin), which was like trying to catch a “falling knife↓.” Now, I’m completely exhausted. 😱
The “Reality Check” from AI
When I asked AI to perform a technical analysis of my current situation, the reality it presented was brutal.
- Now is NOT the time to average down (nanpin). ✖
- There is a high possibility that it will continue to fall. ↘
I felt like I was being shown exactly how I had been widening my own wounds.
Lessons Learned 😰
Why did this happen? Looking back calmly, there were three clear problems.
- I bought without technical analysis. I just dove in on impulse without even looking at the charts. (My excuse: I hadn’t learned technical analysis yet. I’m studying it now! 📈)
- I was swayed by an investor on YouTube. I had no solid rationale of my own and took someone else’s words at face value.
- I strayed from my motto. My motto is “investing in excellent high-dividend stocks.” Yet, I ignored that principle this time and ended up investing a considerable amount of money.
My Resolution for Today
I’m physically and mentally drained from the stress of these unrealized losses.
My shoulders and eyes hurt from staring at the screen too much.
Looking back, I’ve been thinking about nothing but investing lately, and my house is a mess.
For today, I’m taking a break from looking at the stock market.
I’m going to start by cleaning my cluttered room.
I’ll clear my head and hit the reset button while I clean.
Still, I’m aiming for 100 million yen, so please continue to support me! 🙇
